Field Points
Field Points
Field points are what you screw onto your arrows for practice and target shooting. They’re cheap, durable, and easy to pull out of targets – the opposite of broadheads. Most bowhunters shoot field points 95% of the time and only switch to broadheads right before season.
The main reason to use field points is cost. You can shoot hundreds of arrows without worrying about dulling expensive broadheads or losing $15 every time one disappears into the dirt. They also pull out of foam targets cleanly without tearing things up.
Weight matters. Your field points should match your broadhead weight exactly – if you’re hunting with 100-grain broadheads, practice with 100-grain field points. This keeps your arrow flight and point of impact consistent when you switch.
Available in weights from 75 grains to 300+ grains. Most hunters run 100-grain or 125-grain. Bullet points, target points, and parabolic designs all work – pick whatever’s cheap and available. If you’re shooting arrows, you need field points.
